Wearing a shroud during the nail-cutting ritual, a slideshow of photos from my childhood is projected in the background. Before cutting, water is brought to the boil in a kettle. As soon as the water boils, I pour it into a basin and dip my left and then my right foot into the boiling water to transfer the pain and soften the horn for cutting. I cut a toenail and then a fingernail alternately on the left and right and always dip the affected foot into the water bath in between.
When I have finished removing the nails, I get up and take off my shirt and put my everyday clothes back on. I leave the room after I have put the nails in my purse.
